Worlds Most Popular Event: Artist Liu Bolin is invisible in his work of art

Artist Liu Bolin is invisible in his work of art

You could say that Liu Bolin likes to mix in. However, the Chinese artist does more than camouflage pants and standing next to a bush. With the help of some assistants, Bolin paints himself head to toe and only modestly is there - in grocery stores, next to piles of coal, on the stairs, whatever. And unless you look closely, you miss him at all - which is more or less the point.

It turns out that the process of becoming invisible is really very laborious. According to a report in British newspaper Daily Mail, Bolin spend hours perfecting their positions for him with mesh backing. Bolin then stands up "against the backdrop of a team of two assistants to paint camouflage clothing." The "camouflage" can be anything as long as Bolin leads seamlessly into the background.

Besides looking good, Bolin's work has a deeper meaning. Again according to the Daily Mail, living sculptures "designed to show how everyone can disappear in today's world of mass production." And how! Bolin photo standing in front of a shelf in a grocery store full of soda cans and bottles are full of color, shade and shadow.

Bolin, who has been around for several years, has accumulated an impressive portfolio. A gallery of his work can be viewed at Eli Klein Fine Art. You can view the entire collection of photos here. You can view a slideshow of some of the most impressive Bolin in the slideshow below
