Last night’s episode of Criminal Minds ended with Prentiss walking away as Hotch told multiple agencies all about Ian Doyle after looking around at her teammates. It ominously ended with “to be continued…” and the next episode, “Lauren,” will be airing on CBS 2 in Queens at 9PM on March 16th.

Uh-oh, this certainly doesn’t sound good for Prentiss’ future. “Lauren” is going to conclude the Ian Doyle story line—and perhaps Prentiss’ career with the BAU (and Paget Brewster’s with Criminal Minds). Not only that, but this episode is also the return of AJ Cook as JJ. Matthew Gray Gubler will also be directing, his second Criminal Minds episode so far (his first was “Mosley Lane” last season). The title is obviously alluding to Lauren Reynolds, the name that Doyle knew Prentiss by. Tsia had told her she was safe because Lauren Reynolds was killed in a car accident. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
The promo (watch here) shows that Doyle has Prentiss—and this isn’t good. He tells her, “You’re gonna suffer the way I suffered.” Once the BAU realizes that Prentiss ran, they also realize she left to protect them. JJ joins them to help find her: “Let’s get to work.” Hotch tells someone (it could be Clyde), “If anything happens to her, I will destroy you.” Prentiss runs shooting and asks for Doyle’s location. Doyle shows up and they face off, guns pointed at one another.
The voiceover describes the episode as: “Their biggest case ever is Prentiss’ final episode.” However, the writers have said that her story could be ending on a cliffhanger so Brewster could return next season if she decided to do so.
Tune in to CBS 2 in Queens on March 16th at 9PM for “Lauren” on Criminal Minds to see just what goes down between Prentiss and Doyle and for the return of AJ Cook.
